UP no match for FEU as Lady Tams win via sweep
FEU is back to .500 with the victory, improving to 2-2 while UP dropped to 1-3.

Far Eastern University finally got a break from grueling five-set affairs.

The Lady Tamaraws arrested their two game-slide in the UAAP Season 80 women's volleyball tournament, sweeping the University of the Philippines, 25-23, 25-12, 25-19, Saturday at the San Juan Arena.

FEU rallied to take the first set, unloading a final 7-1 run to stun the Lady Maroons.

The Lady Tams then demolished UP in the second set before finishing things off in the third to make the flawless win official.

FEU is back to .500 with the victory, improving to 2-2 while UP dropped to 1-3.

"Sabi ko basta wag lang sila mawawalan ng composure, and then focus lang. Nai-practice naman namin yun and na-execute kanina," head coach George Pascua said on his team's big comeback in the opening set where they turned a 18-22 deficit into a 25-23 win.

"Talagang pinilit namin na makuha tong game na to para di kami lumayo sa standings," he added.

The trio of Heather Guino-o, Toni Rose Basas, and Bernadeth Pons took turns in punishing the UP defense in the game that lasted only one hour and 11 minutes.

Guino-o led the way for FEU with 11 points while Basas was good for 10. Pons scored nine points with eight coming from attacks.

UP, now losers of three straiht games, got 15 points from Tots Carlos but not much from everyone else as Isa Molde only finished with four markers.
