Nagigising na 'yung taba niya -- Reyes on Pacres
At least 'yung Dimdim Pacres, nagigising na 'yung taba niya. Dati natutulog -- UST coach Kungfu Reyes on Sisi Rondina

University of Sto. Tomas head coach Kungfu Reyes has his own way of praising opposite hitter Dimdim Pacres.

Pacres, who was quiet in the Tigresses’ first three games averaging only six points per outing, had her breakout game Sunday in UST’s 25-9, 31-29, 25-19, win over Adamson University in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The third year volleybelle registered 13 points anchored on 10 spikes and three service aces as the Espana-based squad tied its victim, Ateneo de Manila University and Far Eastern University at 2-2 win-loss slates.

“At least 'yung Dimdim Pacres, nagigising na 'yung taba niya. Dati natutulog. Oo kasi, masyadong malamig eh,” Reyes joked drawing a crack of laughter inside the media room during his postgame interview.

Reyes, known for his sense of humor and occasional ribbing of his wards, explained that they needed games like that from Pacres ease the scoring load off the back of Sisi Rondina especially with Fil-Italian rookie Milena Alessandrini out for the rest of the first round because of a right shoulder injury.

“Sige, meron na siyang extra (workout) lagi, that's why medyo nalusaw ‘yung taba, nagising na ‘yung taba niya. Dati talaga parang ahas, napaka-lapot ng dugo,” Reyes continued.

“Ngayon gumagalaw na. Pagkatapos kumain, gusto matutulog lang. So yun ang ano, 'di ba” Maganda ang motivation namin kay Dimdim,” added Reyes, clearing that, “Basta ako nagbibiro lang ako, sasabihin ko nagbibiro lang ako.”

Pacres took no offense on Reyes’ comments.

“Lagi siyang ganyan, love niya ako eh,” the hitter said laughing while holding two packs of Jollibee Chickenjoy and Burger Steak as she granted reporters an interview.

Pacres said that she is doing extra work to get back in form.

With Pacres contributing, expect UST to head into the right direction.
