University of Sto. Tomas got its motivation in their emphatic sweep of Adamson University from a comment made by Lady Falcons coach Air Padda.
University of Sto. Tomas came to the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan Sunday motivated to beat Adamson University.
The Tigresses apparently reacted to Lady Falcons coach Air Padda’s comments on Sisi Rondina carrying UST’s scoring load alone with raised brows.
Days before their match, UST players were able to watch the postgame video posted by ABS-CBN SPORTS.
It fueled their desire to rebound from a painful four-set loss to Ateneo de Manila University a week ago. They wanted to defeat Adamson and prove that UST is not a one-woman team.
The Tigresses did it by making in a straight-set 25-9, 31-29, 25-19 statement win over the Lady Falcons to tie their victim, Ateneo and Far Eastern University at 2-2 win-loss records.
“Pinanood namin yun eh. Sinabi ko na 'O papayag ba kayo d'yan?' said Rondina, who scored 22 points.
Head coach Kungfu Reyes liked how his wards responded to the call especially since playing short-handed with Fil-Italian Milena Alessandrini (shoulder) and libero Rica Rivera (knee) out for weeks because of injuries.
Nag-step up.
At least coming from the opponent na, nagi-evaluate sa amin.
Asked for her comments on UST’s motivation to beat them, Padda responded, “So I helped them, huh?”
