The NU Bulldogs scored their first win of the season after taking down Adamson, 1-0, Sunday morning.
A goal late in the first half proved to be the difference-maker, as National University finally scored their first win of the season, taking down Adamson University, 1-0, in UAAP Men’s Football action, Sunday morning at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
A 37th minute goal from skipper Patrick Valenzuela gave the Bulldogs the advantage before halftime, and never looked back from their, as they managed to keep the Soaring Falcons scoreless to hold on to the victory.
The first win was indeed a relief for NU head coach Mari Aberasturi, but he wasn’t completely pleased with his boys’ performance, citing the number of chances they gave up against a struggling Adamson side.
“Nice win, pero parang hindi convincing yung game kasi andaming chances, nagbigay din kami ng madaming chances sa kalaban.”
Aberasturi mentioned the Bulldogs’ desire to finally get a win, a little too much ‘gigil’ may have affected their play.
“Yung mga boys din kasi gusto manalo, pero alam mo yun pag masyado kang gusto manalo, gigil, you waste a lot of chances.’
After getting their first points of the season with a draw against UST last Thursday and now finally getting a win and the maximum three points, Aberasturi hopes that the Bulldogs can really show what they’re capable of.
“Hopefully mailalabas na nila yung laro nila kasi may first win na.”
“May progress naman, hopefully we build on this.” Aberasturi added.
The NU Bulldogs improve to one win, one draw, and two losses for four points in the season, while Adamson remains winless in four matches for zero points.
