UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Adamson out to add UST to list of victims
Adamson University is on the hunt for third straight victory.

Streaking Adamson University sets its eyes on a third straight win in a showdown with limping University of Sto. Tomas in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Opening serve of the battle that will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream is set at 4:00 p.m.

After dropping a four-set match against National University in their season-opener, the Lady Falcons went on a winning rampage downing Far Eastern University in five sets before shocking University of the Philippines with a 25-9, 27-25, 25-20, triumph on Valentine’s Day with the San Marcelino-based squad peppering the Lady Maroons with 17 service aces including eight coming from Mylene Paat.

Adamson is at solo fifth spot with a 2-1 win-loss slate.

With Jema Galanza getting her rhythm back and rookie Chiara Permentilla, Paat, Joy Dacoron and setter Fhen Emnas bringing significant contributions, Adamson has a huge advantage in manpower over the Tigresses.

UST was bitten by injury bug after losing Fil-Italian rookie Milena Alessandrini and libero Rica Rivera.

Alessandrini was ruled out for the rest of the first round because of a right shoulder injury while Rivera will be sidelined for two to four weeks after sustaining a right knee meniscus tear.

Rivera injured her knee early in the opening set of the Tigresses’ match against Ateneo de Manila University a week ago. Head coach Kungfu Reyes revealed after UST’s 25-16, 22-25, 22-25, 23-25, defeat at the hands of the Lady Eagles that Alessandrini will get a breather to recover from her injury.

Sisi Rondina, who is averaging 23.3 points per game, will get her hands full with Tigresses still looking for consistency from Dimdim Pacres and Carla Sandoval, Shanen Palec and Caitlyn Viray.
