UAAP VOLLEYBALL: NU cages UST for third win in a row

National University captured its third straight win after repulsing University of Sto. Tomas.
National University fought back from a set down to turn back University of Sto. Tomas, 18-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18, Sunday in the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Bryan Bagunas fired 18 points while Fauzi Ismail chipped in 17 points for the Bulldogs’ third straight win that pushed them at solo third with a 4-1 win-loss record behind unbeaten Far Eastern University (5-0) and three-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University (5-1).
James Natividad finished with 11 markers while Kim Malabunga and skipper Francis Saura combined for 15 points for NU, which received 31 free points off the Tigers’ errors.
The Espana-based squad slid to 3-2 slate.
Arnold Bautista scored 15 points, Joshua Umandal had 14 with 10 coming off kills while Jayvee Sumagaysay posted 10 markers in a losing effort for the Tigers.
