UAAP Season 80 softball: Adamson clinches first Final Four berth
The Lady Falcons claimed their ninth win in ten outings.
Krisha Cantor shone as defending champion Adamson University clinched the first Final Four berth with a 2-1 win over University of Santo Tomas in the UAAP Season 80 softball tournament Monday at the Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.
With bases loaded in the bottom seventh, Cantor delivered the winning RBI off Ann Antolihao, sending pinch runner Ivy Capistrano home to help the Lady Falcons punch their ninth win in 10 matches.
The Tigresses fell at 7-3 but remained in second spot.
Earlier, National University boosted its Final Four hopes following a 10-4 romp of De La Salle.
The Lady Bulldogs unloaded six runs in the sixth inning to break away from a 4-4 tie that broke the backs of the Lady Batters.
NU improved to 6-4 and moved to solo third after also-ran Ateneo stunned University of the East.
The Lady Eagles came out of a long stupor and fashioned out a narrow 3-2 win, sending the Lady Warriors to a fifth loss in 10 contests.

Titleholder Ateneo nipped NU, 5-3, while Adamson University rout UP, 13-3, to further tighten the race for the two championship berths up for grabs.
The Blue Eagles and the Falcons are sporting identical 6-2 records in second spot.
