Rookie libero Dani Ravena will miss Ateneo de Manila University's match against two-time defending champion De La Salle University on Saturday.
Ateneo de Manila University rookie libero Dani Ravena will sit out the 80th UAAP women's volleyball first round meeting of the Lady Eagles and archrival two-time defending champion De La Salle University after undergoing operation Tuesday night after suffering from appendicitis.
Ravena’s father, Bong, told ABS-CBN Sports that the freshman will need at least a week or two of rest after a laparoscopy operation, forcing the Lady Eagles to miss the marquee match on Saturday at the MOA Arena.
“She was operated earlier, nito lang mga an hour or two. Yung appendicitis niya eh so kailangang operahan and OK naman natanggal na,” said Bong Ravena, who accompanied his sons Kiefer and Thirdy in the Philippine Sportswriters Association’s Annual Awards Night at the Manila Hotel.
“It happened just this morning sa practice nila,” he said. “Noong practice nila nagreklamo siya na sumasakit yung tiyan n’ya so she went to the clinic sa Ateneo.”
“When I got there yun na dinala ko na siya sa ER (sa Marikina Valley Hospital) so yun dire-diretso na inoperahan na siya, tinanggal na.”
The libero is expected to miss a few games.
“Out na siya sa Ateneo-La Salle and hopefully maka-recover siya sa second round,” said Ravena.
The Lady Spikers and Lady Eagles are tied at 4-2 win-loss slates.
