Even after winning title, family came first for SJ Belangel

SJ Belangel just had to share the joy of winning the championship with his parents first and foremost
Ateneo de Manila High School won the championship, but SJ Belangel did not celebrate with his teammates.
Not just yet.
Instead, the Blue Eaglets’ court general climbed over the railings to keep his mother in a tight hug.
Belangel held mama Mayet in his arms for a few minutes before going back down to the court.
There, it was papa Sammy’s turn to share a moment with the Ateneo floor leader.

And so, Belangel held his father close for a few minutes before rejoining his teammates who were already enjoying their first title in three years.
Clearly, for the two-time Mythical selection, the special moment first had to be shared with his parents.
Only then was he celebrating with the rest of the Blue Eaglets.
