UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Ateneo wants repeat over DLSU
Defending champion Ateneo de Manila University clash in an early elimination round rematch.

Three-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University looks to continue its winning romp as the second round of the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament begins on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

After a sorry loss to start the opening round, the Blue Eagles won six straight and are looking to reassert their mastery over De La Salle University at 10:00 a.m.

The game will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.

Ateneo finished the first round in a three-way tie at 6-1 win-loss record with National University and Far Eastern University.

The Blue Eagles ended the first half of eliminations with a 25-16, 28-26, 25-22, last Saturday.

Four0-time Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo, who is averaging 21.4 points per game, setter Ish Polvorosa, Gian Glorioso and Ron Medalla will spearhead the Katipunan-based squad’s march against the Green Spikers’ Raymark Woo, Arjay Onia and Cris Dumago.

Meanwhile, University of Sto. Tomas and University of the Philippines collide at 8:00 a.m.

The Tigers are tied with DLSU with 3-4 slate while the Fighting Maroons are at sixth to seventh spots tied with Adamson University with 2-5 card.

UP outlasted UST in their first meeting last week 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12.

The Tigers and Maroons are both coming off four-set losses to FEU and NU, respectively.
