UAAP Volleyball: Top-trending Arado aims to change perception on UE
UE Lady Warriors libero Kath Arado topped the Philippines Twitter trend chart during UE's historic win against UST.
As the UE Lady Warriors notched their second straight victory, a historical one against the UST Golden Tigresses, who they have never beaten in the Final Four era, Kath Arado was clearly the talk of the town on social media.
In fact, as the Lady Warriors were on their way to scoring the victory, one of the most talented liberos was actually the top trending topic in the Philippines during the time
UE Lady Warriors interim head coach Rod Roque was all praises for his coveted player, calling her number one in the postgame presser.
“Eh No. 1 naman yan eh. No. 1 yan sa UAAP, No. 1 yan sa puso namin,” said the UE athletics director, who notched his second win in three tries, tying his predecessor's total win record in three-and-a-half seasons.
With the shocking victories against Final Four hopefuls Adamson and UST, Arado hopes to change the public perception on the Lady Warriors, who have always been branded as cellar dwellers in the past years.
"Sa akin lang talaga, gusto ko talaga 'yung mabago talaga ang tingin nila sa UE."
The 19-year old added that her motivation to change UE's tarnished image had started even before one of the most unpredictable UAAP women's volleyball tournaments in recent memory, and with the win, it seems that this season's reputation had lived up to its promise.
"Yun talaga ang naka-focus talaga ako, wala talagang parang iba... ako concentration talaga, unang-una talaga, noong unang game pa lang namin sa UAAP, 'yun talaga ang nasa isip ko na, ngayong season na 'to, gusto ko talagang baguhin ang tingin nila sa UE, which is nangyayari naman talaga. Lalo na sa tulong ng mga coaches at sa mga teammates ko. Yun talaga."
