UAAP 80 Men’s Football: DLSU seeks revenge against Ateneo
DLSU and Ateneo dance once again in the UAAP Season 80 men's football tournament

De La Salle University will try to gain a measure of revenge over defending champions Ateneo de Manila when they meet again in the second round of the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football tournament, Sunday afternoon at the FEU-Diliman Football Field.

After getting back on track Thursday with a 2-0 win over Adamson, the Green Archers try to make a push for the post-season, and next on their list is collegiate rivals Ateneo.

The Blue Eagles meanwhile, try to stay in the top of the standings, and extend their winning streak to five-straight matches.

In their first round matchup, Ateneo defeated DLSU, 2-1 behind the stellar play of reigning MVP Jarvey Gayoso, who responded to chants of ‘overrated’ with two spectacular goals.

DLSU and Ateneo kick off at 1:30 PM.

Before Ateneo and DLSU lock horns however, another highly-anticipated rematch takes the FEU Diliman pitch, as unbeaten University of the Philippines and University of Santo Tomas collide.

The top-two seeds for most of the first round, UP and UST looked to be on a collision course of unbeaten teams, that was until University of the East stunned UST for their first and only loss of the season so far.

When UP and UST finally met on the pitch, it ended in a controversial 1-1 draw, which left a sour taste for the Diliman-based side.

Sunday, the two teams meet once more, and expect a high-intensity matchup as the two sides try to get a more convincing result this time around.

UST and UP kick off at 8:00 AM.

In the final match of the afternoon, National University looks to bounce back when they take on still-winless Adamson University.

After conceding a late-goal to Ateneo last Thursday, the Bulldogs try to get back into the win column to help strengthen their push for a spot in the post-season.

Still winless and drawless after eight matches, the Soaring Falcons hope to finallly end their losing slump and put three points on the board.

In their first round matchup, NU squeaked past Adamson, 1-0, for their first win of the season.

NU and Adamson kick off at 3:30 PM.
