UAAP 80 Men’s Football: Colina hat trick powers NU past AdU
Lawrence Colina scored a hat trick to power NU past Adamson

Lawrence Colina netted three goals to help National University drop Adamson University, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the FEU Diliman football field in UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football action.

An Adamson foul inside the box in the eighth minute led to an NU penalty kick, which Colina converted to give the Bulldogs an early advantage.

Colina hit again in the 33rd minute to give NU a 2-0 advantage heading into the mid-game break.

The Bulldogs didn’t slow down in the second half, as Colina scored for the third time in the match in the 52nd minute to push NU’s lead even further.

Jeffrey Fabro put the game away in the 86th minute, getting himself on the board with NU’s fourth conversion for the commanding victory,

“At least coming from a loss, maganda naman siya,” said NU head coach Mari Aberasturi following the convincing win, their second over Adamson this season. “We’ll try na gamitin itong win to build up for the UP game.”

Colina’s strong start was again part of Aberasturi’s continuing tactical adjustments to find the most optimal lineup for the Bulldogs.

“Again, nag-try na naman tayo ng tactical adjustment, hanggang ngayon, we’re still trying to get the best combination of players. In previous games, we let [Colina] in late to end strong, this time around, we start him early to start strong. Maybe we’ll build on that and do the same tactical adjustments for UP.”

With the win, NU improves to four wins, one draw, and four losses for 13 points in the season.

Adamson drops to nine losses in as many matches for zero points.
