Even though the Adamson Soaring Falcons have not been in the championship round of the UAAP Baseball tournament since Season 72, it felt like they were always qualifiying to the last dance.
All thanks to two-way player Jerome Yenson.
Yenson, the Falcons' starting pitcher and slugger, showcased his talent on both ends of the diamond, going 3-4 at bat, hitting a 2-RBI-double on offense, and throwing four strikeouts on defense.
The Nueva Ecija native also had a good day at the mound, only allowing three runs in seven hits.
Yenson, in his humble manner, shrugged off his performance, even though he was showered by 'MVP' chants from his teammates while at bat.
"Advantage rin po siya, medyo marunong pumalo kahit papaano, hindi po ma-take yung fastball ko po, kaya lumabas rin sa laro," the graduating Yenson said after the game.
His coach, Orlando Binarao, even called his player his "lethal weapon", the key to their Game 1 victory over top-seeded La Salle.
Mabuti nag-click naman," Binarao said in glee.
In addition, Yenson credited his team's game plan of a high octane offense, getting every opportunity they could get in the 14-4 abbreviated victory.
As he faces what could be his final collegiate game, Yenson vows to do it all again for the team, with the help of his inspired teammates for their 12th title.
