Ateneo, NU out to secure at least a semis berth playoff
Three-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University sets its eyes on winning its eighth straight game and securing at least a Final Four seat playoff.

Archrivals National University and three-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University are out to secure at least a Final Four spot playoff Wednesday against their respective assignments in the 80th UAAP men’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Blue Eagles open the playdate in a showdown with Adamson University at 8:00 a.m. and will air live on LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.

Following the Ateneo-Adamson tussle, the Bulldogs will face a desperate University of Sto. Tomas side at 10:00 a.m. The duel will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.  

Ateneo and NU share the lead with 7-1 win-loss records and another win will secure the Blue Eagles and Bulldogs at least a semis berth playoff.

Ateneo is riding on a seven-game winning streak while NU is also on a rampage with a six straight victories.

Tied a 3-5 slates are the Falcons and Tigers together with idle University of the Philippines and De La Salle University.

Ateneo defeated Adamson, 25-14, 25-27, 25-23, 28-26, in their first meeting while NU prevailed over UST, 18-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-18, in the opening round.

The Tigers are on a four-game losing slump. Adamson is coming off back-to-back victories against winless University of the East.
