UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Sabi ko sa sarili ko last na yun -- Pons on bouncing back from a scoring slump
After a forgettable outing against Ateneo de Manila University, Far Eastern University top hitter Bernadeth Pons made sure that there won’t be a repeat of her scoring slump.
The graduating open spiker uncorked 15 points Wednesday in the Lady Tamaraws’ 25-21, 25-21, 25-23, bounce back win over University of Sto. Tomas to boost FEU’s Final Four bid in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Her explosion came a week after a disappointing five-point performance in FEU’s straight sets loss to Ateneo de Manila University to open the second round of elimination.
The fifth-year player was also active on defense as she tallied 18 digs and added eight excellent receptions for the Morayta-based squad.
FEU’s victory pushed the Lady Tams solo third spot with a 6-3 win-loss record.
“Medyo down against Ateneo kasi pangit ang ginawa namin.
Pons and the Lady Tams will face two-time defending champion De La Salle University on Sunday.
