Rico Andes and the FEU Tamaraws look to score back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
MATCHES on THURSDAY, MARCH 15 (Rizal Memorial Stadium)
8:00 AM - Ateneo vs. Adamson (Men’s)
2:00 PM - UE vs. UP (Men’s)
4:00 PM - FEU vs. UST (Men’s)
Far Eastern University will try to get their first win streak of the year when they take on University of Santo Tomas in the second round of UAAP Season 80 men’s football action, Thursday at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Following a dismal first round that saw them pick up only five points in seven matches, the Season 79 runners-up began the second round on a high note with a comeback win over University of the East, led by two goals from super-sub Resty Monterona and the return of veteran midfielder Arnel Amita.
UST on the other hand, find themselves trying to bounce back from their worst loss of the season, a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of league-leaders University of the Philippines last Sunday. The Growling Tigers spent most of the first round at the upper half of the Final Four race, but now find themselves sitting at third place after losing twice in their last two matches.
The Tams will also try to gain a measure of revenge, as they fell to UST, 4-0 to open the first round of action.
FEU and UST kick off at 4:00 PM.
In the earlier game of the afternoon, league-leading UP will try to extend their unbeaten streak to eight matches when they take on UE.
With six wins and two draws under their belt so far this season, the Fighting Maroons remain the lone team yet to taste defeat in Season 80, and they look to keep it that way against a vastly improved UE squad.
After ending the first round strong, the Red Warriors found themselves on the opposite end of an FEU comeback and now hope to bounce back with an upset of the league-leaders.
In their first round encounter, UP blasted UE, 3-0.
UE and UP kick off at 2:00 PM.
In the first match of the day, defending champions Ateneo de Manila target their seventh win of the season when they face the still-winless Adamson University.
Coming off a scoreless draw against collegiate rivals De La Salle University last Sunday, the Blue Eagles try to get their groove back and keep themselves in play for the top seed in the final four.
Adamson on the other hand, try to finally break a season-long slum that has seen them drop all of their matches so far.
In their first round meeting, Ateneo survived a spirited attack from Adamson to win, 2-0.
Ateneo and Adamson kick off at 8:00 AM.
