UAAP Season 80 Men's Football: Gayoso scores four in Ateneo win

Thursday morning at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, the reigning MVP and league-leading goal scorer put on an offensive clinic in the first half to power defending champions Ateneo de Manila to a 4-0 win over Adamson University in the second round of the UAAP Season 80 Men's Football Tournament.
The star striker got things going early in the first half, breaching the Adamson defensive line in just eight minutes of action.
Nine minutes later, second-year man Ryan Haosen found Gayoso for another goal to push Ateneo's lead to 2-0.
The third-year striker wasn't done yet.
In the 31st minute, a cutting Gayoso found his way into the penalty box and fired his third goal of the morning off an assist coming the right side.
Four minutes later, Gayoso uncorked his fourth goal to give Ateneo a 4-0 advantage leading into the halftime break.
With the match pretty much decided, the Blue Eagles were able to give their rookies some playing time in the second half, as Ateneo held on for the 4-0 victory.
Gayoso's scoring outburst pushes his tally to 12 goals this season, putting himself on track for back-to-back Best Striker honors.
The win improves Ateneo's standing to seven wins, one draw, and two losses for 22 points and solo lead, depending on the outcome of UP's matchup agaisnt UE later this Afternoon. Currently, UP sits at second with 20 points off six wins and two draws.
Adamson on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the standings with ten losses in ten matches.
