Her ankle is still swollen. The flexibility in it is not there yet -- Adamson coach Air Padda on rookie Chiara Permentilla's injury status
Adamson University head coach Air Padda sat out rookie Chiara Permentilla for the second straight match as a precautionary measure after the Lady Falcon sustained a left ankle injury a week ago.
The freshman was in the venue Wednesday when Adamson exacted revenge on first round tormentor National University, 25-19, 25-15, 18-25, 25-13, in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
“Her ankle is still swollen,” said Padda, whose squad improved to 5-5 win-loss record at solo fifth spot. “The flexibility in it is not there yet.”
The De La Salle University-Lipa recruit suffered her sprain last week during their training. She showed her swollen ankle and told reporters on Sunday before Adamson’s match against University of the East that she’ll skip at least two games.
“We didn't wanna risk putting her in defense or doing something like that, we didn't wanna risk that,” Padda said of her ward, who is averaging 9.5 points per game. “So we let Eli (Soyud) handle the responsibility, and (Bernadette) Flora who came in and did an amazing job on defense. That's what we decided to do today.”
Adamson will face Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday before the league goes on Holy Week break.
