Adamson University fanned its flickering Final Four hopes with a morale-boosting sweep of National University.

Adamson University pulled off a major shocker Sunday after a 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 rout of erstwhile solo leader National University to keep pace in the race for the last Final Four seat in the 80th UAAP men's volleyball tournament at the Big Dome.

The Falcons took advantage of the Bulldogs' sluggish game to improve to 5-6 win-loss record tied with University of Sto. Tomas at fourth to fifth spot.

"Pinaghandaan namin talaga sila pagdating sa service namin. Sabi nga ng mga coaches na kailangan namin tumarget sa service, huwag natin ibigay sa libero," said Paolo Pablico, who had 12 points with all but one coming of kills.

"Matatangkad nga sila, pero hirap sila sa depensa at receive," added Pablico, who had eight excellent receptions. "Buong week, 'yan talaga finocus namin na halos mapagalitan na kami kapag hindi namin naaayos."

Adamson scored only three aces but their missiles and floaters from the service line frustrated the reception game of the Bulldogs.

NU smashed 35 attacks on 105 attempts while setter Kim Dayandante needed to improvise to tally 24 excellent sets off the Bulldogs' weak control of the first ball.

Leo Miranda had 13 points anchored on 12 attacks while George Labang and Royce Bello combined for 16 points as Adamson snapped NU's eight-game winning streak.

The Bulldogs absorbed their second loss in 11 games to tie other Final Four-bound teams archival and three-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University and Far Eastern University at first to third spots.

Bryan Bagunas had 12 attacks in his total of 14 points while Fauzi Ismail and Francis Saura got eight points each for NU, which defeated Adamson in the first round.
