UAAP 80 Menís Football: Ateneo tries to secure semis spot
With a win, defending champions Ateneo can book a semifinals spot in UAAP Season 80 men's football.

Defending champion Ateneo de Manila University tries to secure a semifinals spot when it takes on University of the East as UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football action resumes on Thursday, April 5th at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

Currently sitting at second place with 25 points off eight wins, one draw and two losses, the Blue Eagles are a win away from joining top-seeded University of the Philippines in the semifinals.

A win gives Ateneo their fourth-straight Final Four berth.

It won’t come easy however, as the Red Warriors are very much in the running for their first top-four finish since UAAP Season 73.

With 13 points off four wins, one draw, and five losses, UE is just three points behind fourth-seeded DLSU, and a win over the defending champions could do wonders for their confidence heading into the final stretch of the season.

Ateneo and UE kick off at 8:00 AM.

In the afternoon men’s match, league-leading UP tries to keep their spotless record intact when they take on cellar-dwellers Adamson University.

Unbeaten in eleven matches with nine wins, two draws and 29 points, the Fighting Maroons have clinched at least a top-four finish in each of the last eight seasons, and are looking to reclaim their spot at the top of the mountain again this year.

Adamson U has been the complete opposite this season.

After eleven matches this season, the Soaring Falcons have yet to earn a point, and it doesn’t get any easier as they get set to take on the best team in the league.

Essentially eliminated from playoff contention, Adamson is now just looking to end their season on a positive note, and an upset over UP could spark some momentum for the struggling Falcons.

UP and Adamson kick off at 2:00 PM.

UP vs Adamson can be seen LIVE on S+A channel 23, S+A HD channel 166, LIGA channel 86 on SkyCable, LIGA HD channel 183 on SkyCable and via livestream.
