For the second year in a row, defending champions De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas clash for women’s collegiate football supremacy as they play for the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Football championship on Thursday, April 5th at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

The Lady Archers blanked the Golden Tigresses, 3-0, a season ago to claim their ninth UAAP Women’s Football crown.

This season has been way different however, as the Espanya-based squad has dominated the league, finishing at the top of the standings with 19 points off six wins, a draw, and a loss.

More importantly, they’ve had DLSU’s number throughout the season, coming out victorious in both meetings, 1-0, and 5-2, respectively.

Charisa Lemoran and Shela Cadag have been UST’s go-to-girls this season, with Lemoran hitting seven goals, while Cadag adding six of her own.

The Lady Tigresses are gunning for their only their second UAAP Women’s Football title, their first since UAAP Season 74.

The Finals are a different story however, and the Taft-based side will have the chance to show just why they’re defending champions.

The Lady Archers finished with 16 points off five wins, one draw, and the two aforementioned defeats to UST, good enough for second place in the standings, and more importantly, a third-straight Finals berth.

Returning striker Shannon Arthur has paced DLSU’s offense this season netting four goals for the defending champions after missing last season’s championsip run with an ACL injury.

If things go DLSU’s way, they’ll be leaving the Rizal Memorial football pitch with consecutive championships for the first time since their four-peat from UAAP Season 65 to 68.

DLSU and UST kick off at 4:00 PM.
