UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Hindi tayo pwedeng sumuko -- Santiago
Hanggang may pag-asa hindi ako magwo-worry -- Jaja Santiago

National University’s woes in the second round elimination of the UAAP Season 80 women’s volleyball tournament continued.

After an impressive start, the Lady Bulldogs dropped their fifth straight match to extend an alarming skid that could endanger their drive for a return in the Final Four after missing the cut in the previous two seasons.

NU absorbed an 18-25, 22-25, 20-25, beating at the hands of University of the Philippines Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan. The loss pulled down the Lady Bulldogs to a 6-6 win-loss slate at the no. 4 spot, just half a game ahead of Adamson University.

Despite their string of misfortunes, NU star Jaja Santiago kept her hopes high.

“Hanggang may pag-asa hindi ako magwo-worry,” said Santiago, the lone bright spot for NU in the match.

The graduating 6-foot-5 versatile hitter was the lone Lady Bulldog in double figures scoring with 19 points while adding seven digs.

Setter Jasmine Nabor scored five points while Fil-Japanese Risa Sato and veteran Aiko Urdas were scoreless.

The Lady Bulldogs need to sweep their remaining games against also-ran University of the East and Far Eastern University to secure a spot in the Final Four.
