UAAP VOLLEYBALL: Jaja Santiago to try out in Korea

National University star Jaja Santiago could get another chance to bring her talents abroad.

The graduating Queen Bulldog confirmed to ABS-CBN Sports on Tuesday night that she is looking to try out for a team in the Korean Volleyball League.

The 6-foot-5 Santiago through an agent has filled out forms and is in the process of completing the necessary documents for a tryout slated on May 3 to 5.

“Tryout meron pero wala sa ngayon, wala pang team,” she said.

But Santiago wanted to focus first on the ongoing UAAP Season 80 especially with the Lady Bulldogs struggling in the second round and are yet to formalize a Final Four spot.

Santiago has had a few offers to play abroad. US NCAA team University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) tried to recruit Santiago back in 2013 but she decided to stay with the Lady Bulldogs.

Before the start of Season 80, Thailand League team Bangkok Glass tried to tap Santiago as an import but the versatile hitter turned down the offer for her swan song.

With another golden opportunity at hand, Santiago is yet to decide if she’ll grab it this time especially if the Lady Bulldogs successfully landed a spot in the Finals.

“Kasi yung (tryout) na ‘yun ay May 3 to 5 ‘yun, eh di ba (UAAP) Finals?” she said.
