Hindi (kami satisfied sa Final Four lang), hindi talaga lalong lalo na sa akin kasi last year ko tapos last chance ko kasi never pa kami nakapasok ng Finals so ito na lang yung last chance ko -- Bernadeth Pons
Far Eastern University is not stopping with just clinching a Final Four slot.
The Lady Tamaraws want to finish at the top two spots and bring a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals of the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
After three straight years of being at a disadvantage in its last three postseason appearances, FEU hopes to sweep its remaining two games and for either of the two-time defending champion De La Salle University and Ateneo de Manila University to fall short of notching their 11th win.
The Lady Tams improved to 8-4 win-loss record after a come-from-behind 25-22, 25-27, 14-25, 25-22, 15-11 win over Adamson University Saturday at the MOA Arena.
But the Morayta-based squad is not satisfied with just a Final Four entry.
“Hindi (kami satisfied sa Final Four lang), hindi talaga lalong lalo na sa akin kasi last year ko tapos last chance ko kasi never pa kami nakapasok ng Finals so ito na lang yung last chance ko,” said graduating hitter Bernadeth Pons, who had 22 points including six in the fifth set.
The Lady Tams’ never went past the semis stage since their last championship stint in Season 71 when FEU failed to defend its crown against the Lady Spikers in Rachel Anne Daquis’ swan song.
“Gusto talaga namin na makapasok kami ng Finals pero syempre gusto namin makakuha ng advantage which is ‘yung twice-to-beat advantage kasi malaking bagay nga naman siya para sa team,” added Pons, who had 24 excellent receptions and 23 digs.
FEU will wrap the elims against also-ran University of the East on Wednesday and National University on April 15.
