Grand slam-seeking De La Salle University will be shooting for the first Final Four twice-to-beat advantage.
Defending champion De La Salle University hunts to the first semifinals twice-to-beat advantage in a showdown with an Adamson University side hoping to stay alive in the race for the last Final Four seat Wednesday in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
Action inside the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan begins at 2:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Lady Spikers sport a 10-2 win-loss record and are on a five-game winning streak. DLSU is not only looking at clinching a semis advantage but the Taft-based squad is also out to exact revenge on its first round tormentor.
Adamson defeated DLSU in their first round meeting, 18-25, 25-15, 19-25, 22-25, that ended the Lady Falcons’ long losing skid over the Lady Spikers.
“Well isa sa mga goal namin, balikan lahat ng mga tumalo sa amin eh,” said DLSU coach Ramil de Jesus. “Siguro gusto naming matapos tong season na lahat nabawian namin, kung sino man 'yung tumalo sa amin.”
“And mai-correct namin 'yung pagkakamali namin during that time, kung ano man 'yung mga mistakes na nagawa nila nung Adamson game, dapat ma-realize nila 'yan at ma-correct nila kung ano man 'yun,” he added.
But Adamson will not be an easy customer.
The Lady Falcons carry a 5-7 slate at fifth spot behind National University (7-6). Adamson is coming off back-to-back five-set losses to semis-bound teams Ateneo de Manila and Far Eastern University.
Another loss will officially boot the Lady Falcons out of the Final Four race and will give the Lady Bulldogs a free ride into the semis.
