8:00 AM - NU vs. DLSU (Men’s)

2:00 PM - UE vs. UST (Men’s)

With the last two Final Four spots still up for grabs, four teams fight to keep their playoff hopes alive when the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football tournament continues this Thursday, April 12th at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

In the first match of the day, De La Salle University looks to tighten their hold on the fourth spot when they take on National University, who’s just a point behind.

Currently at the fourth spot with 17 markers, the Green Archers are coming off an exciting 1-1 draw against University of Santo Tomas last Sunday. A win for DLSU could possibly catapult them to the third spot and move them one step closer to returning to the post-season.

For the Bulldogs on the other hand, a first-ever playoff berth is within reach, but first they’ll need to take care of business, which means winning out their final two matches, starting with Thursday’s encounter against DLSU. A win for NU could put them at fourth place. They’ll be riding the momentum of their 1-0 win over Far Eastern University last Sunday.

In their first round meeting, NU stunnded DLSU,

NU and DLSU kick off at 8:00 AM.

University of the East and UST find themselves in an equally pivotal matchup later in the afternoon, as the Red Warriors are also fighting to get in, while the Growling Tigers are fighting to stay in.

Currently tied with NU for fifth place, UE is also just a point behind fourth-seeded DLSU at 16 points, and if everything goes their way on Thursday, they could see themselves tied with third-seeded UST at 19 points. The Red Warriors are coming off a 1-0 victory over struggling Adamson over the weekend.

Sitting at third with 19 points, a win could definitely separate UST from the pack and move them closer to securing a third-straight Final Four appearance. A loss however, puts them at a precarious situation, especially with three other teams not too far away.

With a playoff spot already locked up, University of the Philippines is now playing to remain unbeaten, as they’ve managed to avoid the loss column in their twelve matches so far. Currently at the top of the standings, they try for win number eleven when they take on FEU.

With their Final Four hopes pretty much out of reach, the depleted Tamaraws will now just look to end the season on a high note, With three matches remaining, the Season 79 runners up will try to push their place in the standings higher.

FEU was one of the two teams who managed a draw against UP in the first round.
