Pag-iisipan ko pa po offer ni coach -- Graduating hitter Shaya Adorador on offer as University of the East's girls high school volleyball team assistant coach.
University of the East hitter Shaya Adorador will remain with the red and white even after exhausting all her playing years with the Lady Warriors.
Though still undecided, Adorador has a standing offer for a job as an assistant coach of the UE girls team.
Adorador played her last match as a Lady Warrior Saturday, scoring 15 points in a lost cause against University of the Philippines, 25-14, 22-25, 23-25-23-25, at the Blue Eagle Gym.
“Very grateful kami kay Shaya,” said UE interim coach Rod Roque. “As sign of our thank you and thankfulness, I’m getting her to be the assistant coach of the high school girls’ volleyball team, depende kung gusto niya.”
“Pero di pwedeng tumanggi,” Roque said in a jest to his prized hitter, who is a product of UE’s high school volleyball program.
Adorador is yet to decide if she’ll accept the offer especially with her commitment to her new club team Foton in the Philippine Superliga.
“Pag-iisipan ko pa po offer ni coach,” she said.
Roque, who will step down from his post to give way to new Lady Warriors coach Ray Karl Dimaculangan, insisted that they are willing to adjust to Adorador’s schedule.
“Sabi ko all her other commitments, hindi magiging sagabal kasi ia-adjust namin schedule for her commitments. Three times a week lang naman yung training ng girls,” he said. “Diba it's a training ground for her in the future kung magco-coach so ngayon mag-start na siya while she's young.
“Look at yung mga UST yung mga assistant coaches, puro ex-players and now they have experience [ng] pagiging assistant coach, kayang kaya naman ni Shaya,” he added. “Who knows baka after one or two years siya na yung head coach.”
