Grand slam-seeking De La Salle University is out to set up a Finals date against Far Eastern University for the first time in nine years.
Reigning back-to-back champion and twice-to-beat De La Salle University hunts for its 10th straight Finals appearance on Sunday when the Lady Spikers face National University in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament Final Four at the MOA Arena.
Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Lady Spikers march into battle brimming with confidence after winning eight straight matches to close the elimination round with a 12-2 win-loss record.
DLSU is coming off a 26-24, 25-17, 25-19, win over archrival Ateneo de Manila University.
The Taft-based squad hopes to close the series early and prepare for the best-of-three Finals against Far Eastern University, which booted out the Lady Eagles to make a return trip in the championship round for the first time in nine years.
DLSU head coach Ramil De Jesus will bank on his veterans graduating players Kim Kianna Dy, reigning Most Valuable Player Majoy Baron and libero Dawn Macandili, Des Cheng, Tin Tiamzon and Aduke Ogunsanya to forge a championship date with the Lady Tamaraws for the first time since dethroning FEU in Season 71.
The Lady Bulldogs will need to play with the same intensity they had during their amazing 6-1 win-loss first round performance for a chance to extend the series.
Game 2, in needed, is on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
