Far Eastern University hopes to force a series decider against grand slam-seeking De La Salle University.
Far Eastern University battles two-time defending champion De La Salle University on Wednesday with hopes of forcing a rubber match in the UAAP Season 80 best-of-three Finals series at the Big Dome.
Game 2 is set at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA on SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD on SkyCable Channel 183 and via livestream.
The Lady Tamaraws have their backs against the wall after a sorry 27-29, 21-25, 22-25, series-opening loss to the Lady Spikers in their first championship game in nine years.
Still, head coach George Pascua remains positive in their bid to end a 10-year title drought and capture the elusive 30th championship for FEU.
”Di pa naman tapos eh. Kahit si La Salle, di pa naman pwedeng mag-celebrate,” said Pascua.
The Lady Tams gave the Lady Spikers a hard time in Game 1. If not for FEU’s crucial errors, the Lady Tams could’ve been in a more favorable position now.
FEU threw away 34 points off their miscues, including 17 in the opening set.
“Hopefully sa game namin, sa Game 2, ma-minimize lang (yung errors). Yun lang naman ang problema, the rest okay naman na,” said Pascua.
Inexperience also played a major role in the Lady Tams performance in Game 1 especially in the closing stretches of each set.
“‘Yung experience na nakuha namin sa nangyari (noong Game 1), plus lessen ng errors, walang imposible. Hindi kami hihinto hangga’t hindi natatapos ang laban,” Pascua said.
Graduating player Bernadeth Pons, Best Blocker winner Celine Domingo, Heather Guino-o and Toni Rose Basas need to level up their game to extend the series.
Game 3, if needed, is on Saturday.
