UAAP: UST retains general championship

University of Sto. Tomas reigned supreme once again after claiming the UAAP Season 80 seniors general championship with six gold medal hauls in two semesters of collegiate sports action.
The Espana-based squad accumulated 281.5 points from its participation in all 16 sports to bag its second straight general title and 42nd overall.
UST beat its closest rival by 10.5-point margin as De La Salle University finished second with 271 points.
The Tigers and Tigresses captured the crowns, which is worth 15 points each, in women's beach volleyball, poomsae taekwondo, women's judo and a shared title with Ateneo de Manila University in men's judo in the first semester before ruling second semester sports women's tennis and women's athletics.
DLSU's five championships were from women's badminton, women's table tennis, women's chess, women's volleyball and women's football.
University of the Philippines landed at third with 234 points followed by Ateneo (228.5), National University (180), University of the East (168), Far Eastern University (151) and Adamson University (98).
