Newest Batang Gilas player from Bacolod is also newest NU Bullpup
NU now has three players who also play for Batang Gilas
Just like their kuyas over at National University, the Nazareth School of NU Bullpups are also loading up on weapons.
NU’s high school program has secured the services of Harold Alarcon, fresh off being named as one of the three newest members of the Batang Gilas pool.
Alarcon is a 6-foot-1 swingman who could score with the best of them. In fact, back when he was playing for Bacolod Tay Tung High School, he dropped 51 points on top of 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a game.
Earlier in the year, he led Tay Tung to a competitive showing in the 2018 National Basketball Training Center Nationals and then continued to open eyes in the Elite 60 Development Camp a week ago.
With that, he was hailed as one of the best players in the training camp and was rewarded with a call-up to the Philippine national youth basketball team.
Now, the pride of Bacolod will turn his attention to being a much-welcome addition to a Bullpup side that had just lost Rhayyan Amsali.
He will team up with now longest-tenured player Terrence Fortea and incoming studs Gerry Abadiano and Carl Tamayo in NU’s quest to reclaim the crown it last wore in 2016.
In getting Alarcon, NU is signaling is signaling its serious contention both in the Seniors and the Juniors Basketball Tournaments next season when the school will also serve as the host.
ABS-CBN Sports had already named the Bulldogs as the Kings of Recruiting for 2018.
