"Sobrang big factor na welcome ka doon sa team na pupuntahan mo." -- Ricci Rivero.
Several players of the University of the Philippines men's basketball squad wasted no time in welcoming its newest member Ricci Rivero.
"Yes may nakausap na kong iba. Okay naman, they welcomed me naman. Siyempre sobrang happy din. Sobrang big factor na welcome ka doon sa team na pupuntahan mo," Rivero told ABS-CBN Sports in an exclusive interview.
The ex-Green Archer sent shockwaves around the UAAP basketball community when he announced his move to Diliman, a month after exiting La Salle.
His new teammates took to social media to let the UAAP season 80 Mythical selection know how much he's wanted wearing a State U jersey.
Everyone from veteran Diego Dario, as well as next-generation Maroons Will Gozum and Javi Gomez de Liano, even Alex Cabagnot, who's part of UP's coaching staff, all shared their thoughts.

UP has been on the rise for the past couple of seasons, and Rivero could be the key to finally unlocking success.
While the 19-year-old forward still needs to serve one-year residency, as per UAAP rules on transfers, he'll still join UP's stockpile of dangerous talent in rookie of the year Juan Gomez de Liano and dominant reinforcement Bright Akhuetie come season 82, with three years left to play.
