Finding diamonds in the rough.

UAAP Season 80 women's volleyball champion De La Salle University is already looking for the next potential star Lady Spikers as it held tryouts at the Taft campus Thursday morning.

According to DLSU's Office of Sports Development, 84 aspirants joined the first day of tryouts.

The 11-time champions will no longer have Season 79 MVP Majoy Baron, Season 78 Finals MVP Kianna Dy, and Season 80 Finals MVP Dawn Macandili, as they have exhausted all their five playing years.

Multi-titled coach Ramil de Jesus will have his hands full at looking at potentially the next great player from La Salle, which has produced the likes of Manilla Santos, Kim Fajardo, Michele Gumabao, Melissa Gohing, Cha Cruz and Aby Marano.

The tryouts will continue until Friday. All senior high school and college undergraduates are invited to join.

La Salle's open tryout comes almost a month after Season 80 runner-ups FEU also held an open tryout in search for the next great Lady Tamaraw.
