Nothing naman as of now. Siyempre kasi matagal pa naman ‘yung season -- Bea De Leon
Bea De Leon is still undecided if she’ll suit up for the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles in UAAP women’s volleyball Season 81.
The middle blocker told reporters on Wednesday that she’s taking her time to think about it before making a decision.
In a separate interview, newly-appointed Lady Eagles head coach Oliver Almadro said that graduating Maddie Madayag and top hitter Kat Tolentino already committed to play next season while De Leon, who helped Ateneo win its last of back-to-back titles in Season 77, remained undecided.
“The comment stays true,” said De Leon, who made her debut as analyst in the livestream broadcast of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Season 2 between Tacloban and Iriga-Navy. “Nothing naman as of now. Siyempre kasi matagal pa naman ‘yung season.”
De Leon led the Lady Eagles to three straight Finals appearances from Seasons 77 and 79 but on her fourth year failed to bring Ateneo back in the championship round after losing to Far Eastern University in Season 80 Final Four.
“I also just wanna rest for a bit, medyo wala muna akong gagawing responsibilities and eventually naman I will make a sure decision regarding that question,” she said.
Ateneo fans are active in social media in their clamor for De Leon to play in her swan song.
“It’s a very overwhelming support, as always, by the fans and I thank you guys for that,” said De Leon. “But of course, whatever I decide, I hope you guys would be by my side and support me.”
For now, De Leon is enjoying her stint as an analyst.
“Nakakanerbyos talagang ninerbyos ako the whole time pero masaya siya actually,” she said. “It was a great experience, it’s a new experience for me.”
