Kobe Paras ruled the dunk contest of the UAAP Season 81 Last Man Standing Hoops Challenge.
University of the Philippines' Kobe Paras outshone professional dunker David Carlos in an extended championship round to bring home the UAAP Season 81 Last One Standing Hoops Challenge slamdunk contest Friday inside the Mall of Asia.
Paras outscored Carlos by a hairline after two dunkoffs, scoring a perfect 50 in a pumped up, two-handed jam over Brent Paraiso and Rasheed Rivero.
Carlos had 48 in his last dunk.
The Fighting Maroon opened his routine with a slam over two people and stuffing his arm through the hoop. He then jumped over the same number of people but this time dunking the ball through a reverse two-handed jam to earn a total of 96 points tied with Carlos.
Paras and Carlos did the same dunk on the first dunkoff that ended with another deuce at 48 points each.
Daniel Chatman of National University and University of Sto. Tomas' Soulemane Chabiyo finished the championship round with 90 and 88 points, respectively.
Chabiyo and Chatman advanced in the championship round after topping the elimination round.
Also joining the dunk contest were Ivan Maata of Adamson University, Matthew Daves of Ateneo de Manila University, Tyrus Hill of De La Salle University and Far Eastern University's Aaron Davis.
