There will be one less drum for pep squads in UAAP Season 81
It’s final – there will be less sound coming from pep squads in the upcoming UAAP Season 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
As per the memo released by league executive director Atty. Rebo Saguisag, pep squads will be allowed to use four bass drums and two snare drums inside the Araneta Coliseum and the MOA Arena.
This is different from the initial ruling confirmed just a day ago of only two bass drums and one snare drum.
This is also not that big of a change from last year when five bass drums and two snare drums were allowed.
For games inside the Filoil Flying V Centre, guidelines will not be changed and pep squads will be allowed to use one bass and one snare.
The UAAP made it a point to state, though, that “drumming should be more in tune wih the ebb and flow of the games rather than indiscriminate, incessant pounding from tip-off to final buzzer.”
Of course, the memo also reminded that no sound should emanate from the drums during timeouts.
