As early as just his second game in the UAAP, rookie Blue Eagle Angelo Kouame has won the hearts of the Ateneo faithful.

From rattling the rim to shutting the door on the Fighting Maroons' offense, Kouame earned every bit of praise he received after their victory over the University of the Philippines, Wednesday evening.

"It makes me really happy because in this school, everyone has been cheering. It really feels good," said the 20-year-old Kouame when asked how the cheers of the sea of blue made him feel.

The Ivorian student-athlete made a solid account of himself defensively after tallying in five blocks and nine rebounds. He also is not a big man limited to defense. Shooting 50 percent from the field and 75 percent from the stripe, Kouame had 14 points under his name. He even had a highlight dunk early in the fourth frame.

"It really feels good. I wanna say thank you to the Ateneo," added the mild mannered big man.

Kouame's efforts on both ends contributed heavily to Ateneo's bounce back win over UP after giving up their opening game to Adamson last Sunday.

"That was a tough game and like what Coach Tab said, we just have to play as a team," Kouame added.

He may be young in the sport, but as early as his second game, Kouame proved that he can ball.
