Aldin Ayo had tears of joys as he gave UST its first win in just their second try
True to form, there was no smile on the face of Aldin Ayo even after he gave the University of Sto. Tomas its first win in the UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
That doesn’t mean, however, that he wasn’t relishing his first win as head coach in black and gold.
In fact, Coach Aldin shed some tears for the school he is now leading as it tries to return to relevance.
When told that he had just matched the Growling Tigers’ win total last season in just his second try, the multi-titled mentor had to pause to compose himself and collect his thoughts. “Deserving yung UST,” he said before pausing.
He then continued after a while, “Kasi naramdaman ko si coach Boy [Sablan], yung community, they deserve this kasi grabe yung suporta eh.”
Sablan, the head coach Ayo succeeded, went 3-11 two years ago and then 1-13 last year calling the shots for UST.
Without a doubt, after all those trying times, Espana is nothing but hungry to be winners again.
The better news for them is that even though the Growling Tigers are already on the board, they aren’t stopping just yet. “I know it’s too early. ‘Di kami makukuntento rito kasi the community deserves this,” coach Aldin expressed.
