Already a champion in the NCAA and the UAAP, Aldin Ayo's next goal looks like the MPBL.
After winning championships in both the NCAA and the UAAP, Aldin Ayo is setting his sights on the next level.
According to sources, the multi-titled mentor in the collegiate ranks is poised to take the reins for playoff hopeful Muntinlupa in the ongoing 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Anta-Datu Cup.
All that is needed now for it to be official is a final meeting between the two camps, as per the same sources.
Espana need not fear, however, as coach Aldin will not be going anywhere and will still call the shots for University of Sto. Tomas in the ongoing UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
In fact, UST management has already given its first-year head coach the green light to do double duty in the MPBL. “Pinayagan ng UST si Coach Aldin. Hindi niya papabayaan yung Tigers,” a source said.
Just a week ago, the one-time NCAA and one-time UAAP champion coach guided the Growling Tigers to their first win in their new era.
Now, if all goes according to plan, the Cagers believe that the same winning attitude will be more than enough for the title they fell short of in the MPBL’s inaugural season.
At present, Muntinlupa is the lone undefeated team in the tournament, with seven wins in as many games.
Still, they are hoping that the entry of the fiery coach Aldin will only keep the fire burning for them through the 10-month long season.
As for UST, coach Aldin wouldn’t have to look far on tips on how to juggle two teams.
Randy Alcantara, his assistant with the Growling Tigers, is also the head coach of the MPBL’s San Juan Knights.
