UAAP Beach Volleyball: FEU Tamaraws perfect at 3-0
FEU Tamaraws Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon sit pretty on top of the men's team standings after three matches in the UAAP Season 81 Beach Volleyball tournament.

Far Eastern University, bannered by the tandem of Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon, is the lone perfect team in the men's division of the UAAP Season 81 Beach Volleyball tournament after downing the University of Santo Tomas, 21-19, 21-18, Tuesday morning at the Sands SM by the Bay.

It was a close match for both gritty teams as the Tigers almost forced a third set.

However, the Tamaraws nailed Season 79 champion UST to 18 as FEU reached 21 points first.

Veteran Garcia partnered up with beach volleyball first-timer Hadlocon and so far their partnership has been very fruitful. They were also responsible for handing Season 80 champion NU an opening day loss, 25-23, 21-17 before routing University of the Philippines, 21-8, 21-13.

"Para sa aming dalawa, nakaka boost sa amin ng morale yun, pero syempre di mo naman babasta bastahin yung ibang team kasi kalaban din sila. Bilog ang bola, kailangan pa namin pagbutihan," said Garcia.

"'Di pa naman tapos nag laban, marami pa kami makakalaban na malakas, di lang NU at UST ang malakas," added Hadlocon.

With a 3-0 record, FEU seek to end the championship drought in Morayta. The last time the Tamaraws ruled in beach volleyball is way back in Season 74.

"Syempre gusto namin may mapatunayan kami. 'Di lang sa indoor volleyball, syempre dito rin sa outdoor. Champion team din kami dito, kailangan maibalik yung nawalang korona," shared Garcia.

Meanwhile, National University's Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad improved to 2-1 after dominating Ateneo 21-12, 21-15. Adamson University's Paolo Pablico and Jesus Valdez also came out as victors after three grueling sets versus the University of the East,  21-15, 22-24, 16-14.

In the battle of winless teams, University of the Philippines notched its first win of the season in another three-setter versus De La Salle University, 23-21, 19-21, 15-12.

The beach volleyball action continues on September 28, Friday.
