That big smile on the face of Alvin Pasaol was all because he knew what was happening after UE registered its first win in UAAP Season 81
University of the East was on its way to its first win in the UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament, up big on Far Eastern University in the final frame of their matchup on Sunday.
And then, UE main man Alvin Pasaol does this:
No, that wasn’t a taunt to the Tamaraws.
That was actually directed to the Red Warriors’ bench – and apparently, Pasaol was signaling that he was already looking forward to the celebratory dinner about to come.
“Nagugutom na kasi ako e,” he told reporters through chuckles when asked about his gesture post-game.
Now, Pasaol and company can rest assured that they will be enjoying a Filipino buffet not far from the game venue.
Big picture, though, that statement could have also been symbolic of UE’s hunger for a win.
With no win to show after four games, the were the only team locked out of the win column in the tournament. “Sabi kasi namin, kailangan naming manalo para ‘di kami maging 0-5. Kailangan naming i-push yung isa’t-isa,” their go-to-guy said.
Now, they are inside the winner’s circle and actually not that far behind from both 2-2 and fourth-running FEU and De La Salle University. “Sobrang laki nang maitutulong nito for the next game. Mabuting nanalo kami ngayon para tumaas yung intensity and confidence level namin,” Pasaol remarked.
