UAAP: Melecio focused on bouncing back, not on facing coach Aldin

Aljun Melecio was once coach Aldin Ayo's most-wanted recruit
When Aldin Ayo arrived in De La Salle University, his first request to team management was to secure the services of Aljun Melecio.
The connection between the two was created back in 2012 when Ayo, then only a coach starting his career, had Melecio, then only a kid with loads of talent, on his team in the Jr. NBA.
That is exactly why it wasn’t hard to understand why Coach Aldin wanted nothing more than to reunite with Melecio.
And that is exactly why it also wasn’t hard to understand why there were whispers that Melecio was going to follow Coach Aldin when he transferred to University of Sto. Tomas.
Only Melecio didn’t do that and chose to continue on his path as a loyal soldier to the green and white.
And so, of course, there will come a day when the mentor will have to go up against his former most-wanted recruit.
That day will be on Wednesday at the MOA Arena when coach Aldin and the Growling Tigers take on Melecio and the Green Archers.
For his part, the third-year La Salle playmaker only acknowledged that he is looking forward to doing battle with the coach who had been a big part of his young career. “I’m excited to play against Coach Aldin,” he said.
He also made it clear, however, that his, and his team as a whole, is only focused on getting back on track following their close loss last Sunday. As he put it, “But at the same time, we need to bounce back from a loss.”
