FEU's Garcia, Hadlocon set to end seven-year title drought
-- Jude Garcia

It has been seven years since Far Eastern University last reigned supreme in UAAP Men's Beach Volleyball. Fortunately this Season 81, Jude Garcia and Kevin Hadlocon have set the perfect stage to end just that after crushing every single opponent in the eliminations assuring them of a spot in the Finals.

The Tamaraw duo immediately took the tournament by storm surprising defending champions National University, 25-23, 21-17, on their first game last September 24.

With their confidence on a high, they won every game thereafter and closed their eliminations run with a complete shut down of Ateneo de Manila University, 21-3, 21-5, October 5.

"Sobrang saya po namin kasi first time po namin ma-sweep itong UAAP.

This is the second time the Garcia-Hadlocon partnership reached the Finals. The last time was back in Season 79 where they overcame being a low seed team to being a championship contender.

It was a heartbreak for them two years ago and this is the exact inspiration Garcia is using to make a different result this year.

Yung batch namin nila Richard [Solis], wala pa kaming championship," said Garcia, "Kaya kailangan ngayon, abot kamay na namin yung goal namin, kaya dapat all out kami."

From their first eliminations game to their last, bringing back the crown to FEU has always been the narrative Garcia has been preaching to reporters. On Sunday, FEU has every chance to make that narrative true in the best-of-three finals series.
