UAAP Season 81: Tigers back on the men's beach volley throne
University of Sto. Tomas reclaimed the crown after sweeping Far Eastern University in the UAAP Season 81 men's beach volleyball best-of-three Finals series.

University of Sto. Tomas took the long route back to the throne but the pair of graduating Krung Arbasto and rookie Jaron Requinton made the journey worth it.

The Tigers toppled outright finalist Far Eastern University in a best-of-three series sweep capped by a hard-earned 21-13, 22-24, 15-10, win in Game 2 of the UAAP men's beach volleyball tournament championship at the Sands SM by the Bay Sunday.

The Espana-based squad reclaimed the crown it lost last year to National University and handed the Tamaraws pair of Jude Garcia and Richard Solis, who replaced Kevin Hadlocon early in the opening set of the second game, another runner up finish after closing Season 79 behind then champion UST.

The Tigers annexed their fourth title overall since winning it all back in Seasons 71, 72 and 79.

UST moved at match point in the second set 20-18 but allowed the Tams to mount a rally to force a deciding frame.  The Tigers battled FEU in a tight third set before finishing off the Tams with a closing 7-2 barrage that broke an 8-8 deadlock.

UST shocked FEU, which swept its way straight into the Finals, in the series opener, 21-14, 21-16, in their early morning clash.

The Tigers advanced to the Finals after dethroning NU's Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad in the last phase of the stepladder semifinals on Saturday.
