Thirdy Ravena, Arvin Tolentio, and Javi GDL will all be out of action in their respective teams' next games
Ateneo de Manila University’s Thirdy Ravena has incurred a post-game disciplinary action for what he appeared to do to the University of the Philippines’ Paul Desiderio last Saturday.
Late in the opening period, Ravena bumped into Desiderio and the former’s right hand was caught making contact with the latter’s chest.
Ravena was called for a warning, but was not called for any foul.
According to a UAAP official who requested anonymity, however, after replay reviews post-game, it was found that Ravena threw a closed fist at Desiderio.
As such, the league has upgraded Ravena’s action into an unsportsmanlike foul.
In turn, that unsportsmanlike foul has led to a one game-suspension which Ravena will serve in the Blue Eagles’ game up against Far Eastern University on Saturday.
Also with disciplinary actions are Tamaraw Arvin Tolentino as well as Fighting Maroon Javi Gomez de Liano who will both have to serve automatic suspensions die to their respective fouls during their respective matchups.
Tolentino was called for a disqualifying foul late in FEU’s loss to University of Sto. Tomas as his hand got caught near the face of Zachy Huang while going for a steal.
As that was already his second disqualifying foul in the season, the UAAP will slap Tolentino with a two-game suspension.
Meanwhile, GDL was slapped with two technical fouls – the first for throwing the ball at an opponent and the second for tripping without contact – in UP’s loss to Ateneo. He was sent out of the playing court after the second one.
As per league rules, an ejection merits and automatic one-game suspension to be served in the players’ next assignment.
