Which UAAP squad has the freshest threads this season?
With the second round of the UAAP Season 81 men’s basketball tournament already underway, we’ve pretty much gotten a feel for the teams that are in strong contention for a spot in the Final Four.
Ateneo and Adamson are on top of the heap, FEU and DLSU are making strong cases for their spots in the postseason, and UST, UP, NU, and UE are all pretty much still in the mix.
While it’s still a tad bit early to say who’s in and who’s out, it’s the perfect time to see who’s on top and who’s not in terms of jersey rankings.
Which team is rocking the freshest set of unis? Which team, well…isn’t?
Here’s our UAAP Season 81 Jersey Rankings.
Of course, this is our opinion on the matter. Should you agree or disagree, let us know in the comments section!
8 - NU BULLDOGS
In terms of the overall design of the jerseys, the NU Bulldogs have one of the more simple looking kits in the league. However, the choice of an even simpler, sans-serif font for the name somehow just makes the Bulldogs’ jerseys a slightly less eye-catching. A far cry from snappy threads of past NU squads.
Remeber those snappy threads?
Those were sweet, really, really sweet.
7 - ADAMSON SOARING FALCONS
The Adamson Soaring Falcons have soared to the number one spot in the league as of press time, all while wearing one of the more creative kits in the UAAP. However, it sort of feels like there’s a bit much going on. A tribal-looking falcon can be seen on the bottom half of the top, and more tribal patterns can be seen on the sides of the bottoms.
INTERCHANGEABLE AT 4 TO 6
Here’s where the field gets a bit tricky. For a while now, FEU, Ateneo and DLSU have been working with the same athletic apparel brand as their sponsor, meaning that all three teams have been supplied exactly the same design of kits, save for, of course, the color and the fonts used for the names and numbers. Ateneo and DLSU have pretty much retained their classic fonts, while FEU has switched theirs up to a more stylish one. All three have just changed up the size of the font for this season. In terms of the kit design itself, it’s an all-around decent look.
3 - UE RED WARRIORS
The Red Warriors are struggling this season as they find themselves at the bottom of the standings, but at least their jersey game is at the top half. With the eye-catching UE red and EAST emblazoned big and bold on the chest, it’s quite hard to miss what the Red Warriors are working with.
2 - UP FIGHTING MAROONS
While their season seems to be up and down, the UP Fighting Maroons are strong contenders in the jersey ranking. Sporting one of the more modern-looking kits in the league today, UP brought back the sharp font for their name numbers, while keeping the design of the unis itself pretty simple, yet strong.
1 - UST GROWLING TIGERS
Under new head coach Aldin Ayo, the UST Growling Tigers have bucked a slow start and have managed to pull to a .500 record to start the second round. And they’ve done that in some pretty clean-looking threads. The UST yellow matches the home whites and the away blacks perfectly, and the font used for the name on the front and the number fits in well too.
