Ateneo de Manila University's Angelo Kouame gave another MVP-worthy performance in the UAAP Season 81 after dropping 33 points and 27 rebounds.

Kouame was heralded with "MVP! MVP" chants once again from the Ateneo crowd as he found his way to the bench in the dying seconds of the match.

"I'm really thankful for whatever they give. It's also kind of motivation for me so I'm really thankful," he said.

In the end of the first round, the student-athlete from Ivory Coast placed third among the possible MVP candidates in the UAAP next to UE's Alvin Pasaol and UP's Bright Akhuetie. With how his performance is going and how Ateneo has been racking up wins, he is well on his way to the highest individual honors in the UAAP.

But the 6-foot-10 center has bigger dreams than an UAAP MVP plum.

"My own mindset is I want to be more than that [MVP], I'm trying to make it to the NBA if I can," he shared.

Interestingly, his 33-point performance came a day after his NBA idol, Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid, had a 30-point game too.

"Joel Embiid is [my favorite NBA player], of course! He has the skill, he can dribble, his really strong, he can shoot, he can do everything on the court," shared Kouame to ABS-CBN Sports.

Cameroonian Embiid made it rain in the NBA on Friday with 30 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks in the Sixers' win over Chicago Bulls.

When Kouame was informed about Embiid's statistics and realized the similarities, his face lit up.

"God blessed us! 30 points also? Oh! I watched the video of that but I didn't know what was happening," Kouame exclaimed.

Just like Kouame, Embiid is also included in the very early MVP talks in the NBA.

"He is such an example for me. I want to be like him," added Kouame.

To make things more interesting, Kouame shared that some friends of his told him that he has little bit of physical resemblance with Embiid.

"People said that [we kind of look alike] actually," Kouame shared in between laughs.
