Coach Bo says Manganti should enjoy being UP enemy number 1
Sean Manganti is UP enemy number 1 - and that's only a good thing, if head coach Bo Perasol is to be believed

Adamson University’s Sean Manganti has had two game-winners against the University of the Philippines in the last two years.

And on Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Centre, he continued being a thorn on the side of the Fighting Maroons.

After Juan Gomez de Liano pulled State U within four inside the last two minutes, the Soaring Falcons found Manganti for a wide open corner three.

The ball swished through the net and that ultimately proved to be the backbreaking shot.

And so, the third-year forward should only expect his Twitter direct messages to blow up with even more haters from Diliman.

For UP head coach Bo Perasol, though, Manganti should no longer be surprised at the treatment. “Ako nga, maraming bashers e. Ako nga, kakampi na ako, siya pa kaya na kalaban,” he kidded with reporters.

Of course, not all would be pleased – even with coach Bo who rejuvenated the once lowly Fighting Maroons.

In his view, all the hate just means that Manganti is doing something right. “It’s all part of that. Nobody’s going to say (anything) bad about you if you don’t count. If anybody notices him, nobody comments about him, it means he didn’t do anything against us,” he shared.

He then continued, “But if you are making yourself a thorn on the side of your opponent, everybody’s going to be against you. He has to be happy about that.”

Along with that, the State U mentor explained that there are valid reasons why the Adamson forward has been a thorn on their side. As he put it, “I think it’s his length. He doesn’t give up any quickness kahit maliit ang bantay niya kasi mabilis at mahaba siya. He’s very athletic and he can shoot from the outside.”

He then continued, “Ang bantay namin sa kanya, maliliit, laging may mismatch so we need to find a way how we can match up with him.”

So don’t sweat it, Sean. Without a doubt, UP respects you – their head coach sure does.
