Marvin Lee caught fire in the latest victory of University of Santo Tomas over University of the East in UAAP Season 81 action, Sunday afternoon. Scoring 30 points from eight three-pointers, Lee led UST's breakaway in the first half and never looked back.
All of Lee's 18 attempts from the field were from beyond the arc and he made eight of them. When UST was prodded about Lee's hot game, it was revealed that he is one of the most hardworking players in the team who do things beyond what is required of him.
"Kung titignan niyo si Marvin, call time namin, 12 or 1 o'clock, before mag start yung regular practice namin siguro naka-mahigit 500 shots na ito everyday," head coach Aldin Ayo boasted about his impressive ward.
"So kung ano man ginawa ni Marvin, siya gumawa nun. As I've said, coaches should not take credit on the achievements of the playes," Ayo added.
Apparently, Lee has been doing a lot of extra work everyday focusing on his shooting range.
That kind of repetition in Lee's routine resulted to an impressive shooting touch. In the game, Lee did not need even think about his shots. He just takes it, and swish it goes. Muscle memory.
In addition, this is also the first time in the season that Lee's backcourt partner Renzo Subido did not see action. Subido sat out due to injuries on both feet.
In their loss against National University seven days ago, it was these two guards that took turns with the offensive burden. But this time, with Lee alone, he felt the need to fill up the charts for his injured teammate.
